How is Our Stem Cells Program in Mexico for Multiple Sclerosis Different

✔  Our competitively priced packages are just about a fourth of the US prices

✔  We offer comprehensive treatment protocol comprising 3-4 stem cell applications

✔  We use induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which means after having adequate number of stem cells we reverse their aging process rendering them blank so that these can be coaxed into becoming the required cell type; we follow the process of differentiation which most of the other stem cell clinics in Mexico do not; induced pluripotent stem cells are not ethically questionable

✔  We work with top hospitals and stem cell clinics in Mexico which have the necessary permits to carry on the procedure

✔  We have collaborated with San Javier Hospital in Guadalajara for stem cell treatment which has been certified as a “Specialty Hospital” by the General Health Council

✔  In Tijuana we offer adult stem cell stroke treatment at Hospital Del Pedro, which has been awarded a certification of excellence by the Health Secretary in Mexico; it is the only hospital in Tijuana to have received this certification

✔  We also offer stem cell therapy at a state-of-the-art clinic in Los Algodones equipped with the latest technology and a modern operating room

✔  We offer complete trip assistance – right from arranging for hotel stay to transportation

FAQ

What is Stroke?

A stroke or a “brain attack” is a medical emergency caused by the disruption of blood flow to a part of the brain. When blood supply to a certain part gets cut off, it leads to deprivation of oxygen to the brain cells there, eventually leading to their death. Death of brain cells as a result of stroke could lead to impaired memory as well as loss of muscle control.

How much one gets affected by it would depend on the damage caused by it as well as its location. While a small stroke may render a person with weakness in a limb temporarily, a large stroke may leave one paralyzed or completely take away their ability to speak. According to the National Stroke Association,1 while some of the people completely bounce back after stroke, almost 67% of them are left with some form of disability.

Types of Stroke

Hemorrhagic Stroke

Making up nearly 15% of all stroke cases, it is a type of stroke caused by bursting of a brain aneurysm (a weakness in a blood vessel protruding out or causing the arterial wall to puff up). When an aneurysm bursts it causes blood spillage which leads to swelling and pressure. This damages brain tissue. It accounts for nearly 40% of stroke-related deaths. It can be further categorized into:

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), a kind of stroke resulting from blood loss within the brain tissue.

Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (SAH), a kind of stroke caused by blood leaking in the subarachnoid spaces.

Ischemic Stroke

Almost 87% of the strokes cases are ischemic. An ischemic stroke is caused by blockage in vessels carrying blood to the brain because of a clot. As a result blood does not reach a certain part of the brain. A prime reason for such strokes is hypertension. An ischemic stroke can be further categorized as:

Embolic Stroke

It is a result of a blockage in a blood vessel caused by a blood clot which has traveled from some other part of the body (mostly from the heart). According to the National Stroke Association, almost 15% of the cases can be attributed to irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation).

Thrombotic Stroke

This kind of stroke is caused by formation of a blood clot in the arteries carrying blood to the brain. Thrombotic stroke is more common in people with elevated cholesterol levels, and hardened and narrowed arteries (atherosclerosis).

Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)

Alternatively known as a mini stroke, TIA is a short span of symptoms associated with a full-fledged stroke caused by temporary reduction in blood flow to some section of the brain. It usually lasts for less than 5 minutes, but should be taken seriously as it may be a precursor to a full-fledged stroke.

How Stem Cells Help in Stroke?

✔ Numerous research studies (Gary Steinberg et al 2016)2 have shown that stem cells can bring about substantial recovery in chronic stroke patients.

✔ Stem cells are the foundation cells of the body with an unparalleled potential of developing into different types of cells during the body’s initial stages of growth.

✔ They are blank cells without any functional specializations, and under certain circumstances can be coaxed to become any functional cell specific to a tissue or an organ, such as nerve cells.

✔ Because of their unmatched potential to regenerate, stem cells hold a lot of promise in treating various conditions including stroke.

✔ We at GIOSTAR are experts in procuring sufficient number of stem cells from the patient’s own body (autologous) as well as allogeneically from matched donors.

✔ These stem cells are then processed, enriched, and re-administered into the body through either an injection into the spinal canal (intrathecal administration) or through an intravenous injection, which involves infusing stem cells with mannitol directly into the vein; mannitol helps increase the blood quantities in the central nervous system (CNS) and ensures maximum number of stem cells reaching the damaged area

✔ After re-entering the body, stem cells colonize in the areas of the brain adversely affected by the stroke.

✔ By a process called paracrine signalling which is communication on a cell-to-cell level, stem cells either differentiate into neurons lost as a result of stroke, create new blood vessel network for better flow of blood to the brain, or produce cells that help improve brain functioning.

Hence with our well-researched protocols for stem cell stroke treatment in Mexico, regaining control over life is no more a distant dream.
