Major Highlights

 First to get FDA-approval for using stem cells for treating spinal cord injury with University of California, Irvine (UCI)
  San Diego, US-headquartered company involved in stem cell research for more than 15 years
  More than 4,000 treated with highly personalized therapy protocols
  Founded by a pioneer in stem cell therapy – Dr. Anand Srivastava (he helped set research programs at various esteemed institutions such as UCI; University of California, San Diego (UCSD); and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies)

Success Story

Disclaimer: Results may vary.

A patient with cervical spine injury at level C5-6 vertebra underwent two cycles of stem cell treatment, out of which the first one was given fifteen days after his accident. The following were the outcomes of his therapy:

After first stem cell transplant the patient experienced some sensation and movement in limbs.

After second stem cell transplant the patient experienced further improvement in sensation in both upper and lower limbs.

Why Our Spinal Cord Stem Cell Program in Mexico?

✔  We use only human induced pluripotent stem cells

✔  We strictly follow the process of differentiation, whereas many other stem cell centers in Mexico don’t

✔  Our prices are quite competitive

✔  We strictly follow the process of differentiation unlike other clinics which infuse stem cells into patients without differenting them

✔  We offer a complete stem cell protocol made up of 3-4 applications for treating a condition, whereas other centers wait for results after a single stem cell application and then follow it up with other another application

✔  Our stem cell spinal injury packages for Mexico include travel assistance; we help you in hotel bookings as well as make the necessary transportation arrangements

✔  We offer stem cell therapy at top duly certified hospitals and clinics in Tijuana, Guadalajara, and Los Algodones; we have the necessary equipment to isolate, process, and administer stem cells

✔  Our prices are highly competitive, and you wind up saving substantially over the average US prices

About Us

GIOSTAR is devoted to bringing the constantly evolving stem cell technology in the lab to the benefit of people suffering from various immunological, blood-related, and other conditions. It has been treating people with stem cells for over 17 years now, and helped over 4,000 individuals fight various diseases. The organization was founded by Dr. Anand Srivastava, a top name in stem cell technology, and its advisory board is made up of members connected with Harvard, UCSD, UCI, and Imperial College, London.

What Goes Wrong With Spinal Cord Injury?

The spinal cord is a cluster of nerves running through the center of the back carrying signals between the brain and the body.
✔ Any injury to the back can cause disruption of the flow of signals.
✔ Spinal cord injuries are caused by a blow that could either fracture or dislodge the spinal disks. While the cord may remain at place after the impact, some of the nerve fibers may get cut off.
✔ While car mishaps are responsible for half of the spinal injuries, accidents in sports, serious falls, and certain diseases such as spina bifida can cause serious damage to the spine too.
✔ Paralysis after SCI is often caused by the nerves losing their insulating cover called the myelin sheath.
✔ Additional factors aggravating injury to the nerves are inflammation, swelling, and certain metabolic processes.

Types of SCI

Cervical Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
Any injury to the vertebrae C1-C8 can result in paralysis in arms and legs causing quadriplegia. Cervical injuries may also result in:
✔ Impaired sensation
✔ Respiratory problems
✔ Trouble regulating body temperature
✔ Bladder and bowel problems
✔ Sexual disorders

Thoracic Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
Thoracic spinal injuries (T1-T12) are usually not very common because of protection granted by the rib cage. Thoracic injuries may result in paralysis of the legs (paraplegia), besides resulting in:
✔ Impaired sensation
✔ Sexual disorders
✔ Bladder and bowel problems

Lumbar Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
An injury to the lumbar region can render the legs weak (paraplegia) or paralyzed, without affecting the arms, shoulders and hands. It may also result in:
✔ Impaired sensation
✔ Sexual disorders
✔ Bladder and bowel problems

Sacral Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
Sacral spinal injuries (S1-S5) can render the hips and legs weak or paralyzed and also result in loss of sensations and sexual disorders.

Complete Vs. Incomplete SCI
In an incomplete SCI, the spinal cord does not completely lose its function of conveying messages to and fro with the brain. People with incomplete spinal cord injuries may have some sensation left in areas below the injury. A complete spinal cord injury, on the other hand, is marked by complete loss of sensation and motor abilities below the site of injury.

Loss of sensation or movement can also be categorized as:

Tetraplegia/Quadriplegia: Paralysis of all four limbs along with pelvic organs

Paraplegia: Partial paralysis

How Stem Cells Help in Spinal Injuries?

✔ Stem cells could help prevent the further aggravation of SCI by bringing back some lost nerve function, producing new nerve cells, and directing regeneration of nerve cells that got cut off because of injury.
✔ Stem cells are known to have unmatched capacity to undo the damage caused by a spinal injury.
✔ Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are an autologous source of stem cells and circumvent the ethical issues concerning the source of cells.
✔ These can be differentiated into the following which help in replacing the damaged and lost cells, and transforming the microenvironment in the lesion:1
* Neural stem cells
* Neural crest
* Neurons
* Oligodendrocytes (which help form myelin)
* Astrocytes (which hold up neurons and clear debris in the brain)
* Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs)
✔ Our program for stem cell treatment for spinal cord injury in Mexico involves isolating stem cells, enriching them, and re-administering them through either of the following:
 * An injection into the spinal canal so that the stem cells reach the cerebrospinal fluid through the spaces between the arachnoid membrane and the pia matter
* IV in which stem cells are re-administered through the veins
✔ On entering the body, the stem cells colonize at the site of injury, and through paracrine signals differentiate into lost and damaged neurons and other assistive cells thereby improving movement of the body as well as helping it regain some sensation.

Spinal injury stem cell treatment can bring about considerable improvements, and help you lead a more active life. Contact us for information on SCI stem cell therapy in Mexico.
